Susan, my mum-in-law, is here for her first American Thanksgiving -- we put her to work, though -- she and M. made the dinner, and my family showed up in time to eat it. My mother was beside herself with joy, as nobody's ever made a Thanksgiving dinner *for* her previously; entertaining is always a strain for her (major self-confidence gap). We had turkey, sweet potatoes and brussels sprouts, along with English Paxo stuffing and bread sauce, and some Chateauneuf-de-pape that Susan picked up at duty-free (mmmmm).

We've mostly been showing Susan around; she's here on a shopping mission. Very frustrated -- she wants to buy us a new computer, but Gateway wouldn't take a UK credit card for a US sale, even though it's a Visa, and even though the "ship to" address is US. We've got an order placed with Dell (which would have been my first choice, but this is M.'s baby), but we're waiting for them to process and see if they have a similar policy. *sigh*

There hasn't been much time for anything else; picked up Caitlin Kiernan's *Low Red Moon* and have been reading it in the odd free moment.

I've got a lot of catching up to do on my friends' list, but meanwhile a shout-out to [livejournal.com profile] silme for the lemsips, which arrived just before the holiday. M.'s feeling a bit better now, but he's very glad to have them in the cupboard. Thank you from both of us!!!
