Have now quite happily got both a tooth and a tv. The crown fell out again mid-chew of a (delicious) cod fritter at Negril Monday night, so the dentist used the permanent cement Tuesday morning. I have now chewed enough challenging items to believe it's now in to stay. And thanks to [livejournal.com profile] linearys, now a Chelsea girl herself, we have a truly kickass 27 inch Sony Wega, as she was moving in with her BF, who has an even more kickass tv and let us have it for a song. I freely admit the old tv was crap; all the electronics in the house are pretty much mine (except the new computer which is ours) and I tend to spend less on electronics and more on, you know, clothes, and books, and grad school tuition. A certain someone, who'd had to leave all his own electronics back in England, is now displaying symptoms of being actually in love with the new tv. I'll be watching him closely.

The light is so clear and lovely today, I've got a real sense of well-being. Sort of as if I've crawled out of the cave of books and papers I've lived in for most of the semester. Of course by midweek, I'll have crawled back into my new cave of dissertation and freelancing, but it's nice to revel in daylight.

Friday I met up first with friend F., and then with M. Discovered that if you ask for seltzer with lime and the bartender mistakenly puts Rose's lime juice in the seltzer, it's a really good thing. Saturday was Official Stacey Day, as an old friend reappeared from the wilds of Connecticut and a bunch of us got together. There was a lot of "I miss you guys" as we've drifted a little apart this year, so hopefully that will change.

And today I went to St. P's where Bishop Catherine Rosskam was doing her bishop thing. She is a small, roundish woman with short grey hair and a lovely voice; she is altogether quite impressive but I must confess to stifling a giggle fit when this small person walked in with her mitre and crozier. This is both less sexist and less sizist than it sounds, as I had to so some similar stifling some years back when a very tall male bishop received me into the Episcopal church. I just can't keep a straight face around mitres and croziers, no matter the purported solemnity of the occasion.
