Aug. 3rd, 2004 02:40 pmThings that happen to M.: he was at the Usual Watering Hole last night, meeting a friend from his ex-job for a beer, and he mentions the Outcasts, a London-based motorcycle gang he used to hang with when he was young and disreputable. Turns out the guy who's sitting next to him used to know the same people.
Rewinding, I went to my first Contempt on Friday and it was great fun. I got to wear a black velvet corset (thanks
linearys) which made M.'s eyes pop out of his head when he saw it, and dance, and hang out with cool people, so all was good. (Sorry you weren't there,
bethynyc. I hear you're quite the dancer!) I left around 2am, thinking I'd get a decent night's sleep, but M's friends had taken him out to celebrate his, uh, "liberation", so I swung by to pick him up on the way home. So I didn't get home 'til much later anyway.
sbgrl's platform Aeryn Sun boots are even better in person; it was great to meet
psycholibrarian. (She also gets *huge* props for not only having read my article in Fighting the Forces, but for having a smart and thoughtful response to it.)
The weekend was pretty quiet because I had a deadline and M. was wiped from celebrating, so we just rented movies Saturday night. I went back to Holy Trinity, the church I'm checking out, and liked it again. They sing lots of Bach and no "praise songs" and are neither all-white nor all-straight. The choir director said there's no point in auditioning 'til fall, which makes me happy since I'm getting a terrible throat drip from sleeping in a/c. That I'm not alone in this process was brought home to me when my friend Arthur from St. P's called today to talk about his resignation letter. The John firing has gotten to us all.
