I am rereading Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell, in honor of the tv show being out. (I haven't seen the second episode yet, but I am loving it so far.) This varies from my previous reads in that I am reading a mass market paperback instead of my super-heavy hardcover, and that I don't have much time so I'm reading it in bits and pieces. I still miss the red-covered Bloomsbury trade paperback I gave away when I moved, and will have to hunt one up . . . but meanwhile, I'm reading a small brick rather than a big brick.

Poldark! Totally lived up to my expectations. I did watch the original, and at least the first episode surprised me by how much I remembered. I'm sure that will change as it goes on, but considering I watched the original in the 70s and have not seen it again, I thought I might recall less. Aidan Turner is fantastic as Ross (no surprise), and hey, this time I can understand Judd. Judd on the original had such a heavy Cornish accent I could barely make out a word . . .

How sad is it that my sum experience of the solstice was, "yay, it's light out late, since I'm sitting here working I'd rather it be light . . . "
