Yuletide woes
Dec. 5th, 2017 06:53 amI nominated the fandom I'm writing for Yuletide.
I LOVE the fandom I'm writing for Yuletide.
I rewatched all the episodes.
All of my plotbunnies are for other shows. And not other ones on my requestor's list.
I mean, I can write a good 1000 word story in two weeks, not a problem. But I wanted to write something really great, and that's clearly not going to happen.
Every single year I wonder why I do Yuletide, but then I'm so excited to open my gift, to see reactions to my story, for the reveals, to see what wonderful things I'd only imagined somebody writing about were really written.
And I know I want to be a part of it.
But why can't I EVER just get super-excited about my assignment? Most years, it was getting started writing. But this year, I've been ficcing again.
Show, I love you! Inspire me with a plot, please! Or else it will just be characters interacting and hoping something interesting happens. My requestor didn't do a letter and only gave me a (femslash) ship and a suggestion that "other lady detectives" could show up. Which, probably, means I'll figure out a way that Peggy Carter is tangentially involved, because I'm me.
ETA: I started writing, and *character redacted* started talking. 117 words, but that's a good start for ten minutes staring at the screen. I think it's going to be a sequel to my Yuletide story from 2 years ago, which was in the same fandom, though of course I can't make that explicit until after the reveal.
