Really productive day today. Sometimes when work gells right, life just feels so right. I had to write my annual progress report, aka, don't kick me out just understand I don't have enough *time* to finish. This year I'm making firm promises, because I intend to keep them. Assuming there's not another $4000 dental emergency.

Then I came home after M. had left for work (dinner shift), to find he'd drawn hearts on stick'ums and left them all over the apartment -- on the phone pad, on the computer screen, on the coffee table, where the laptop lives except it was at the library with me, on the tv screen . . .

On the way home stopped at the Gap and bought a pair of jeans that stop just below my navel. I am dreadfully tired of my closet full of stylish lowrise jeans which involve constant tugging up of trousers and tugging down of shirts. I just want to wear jeans without having to think about them.

Is that a sign of incipient middle age? Help!

If that's a sign of incipient middle age I've been middle aged since I was 16 years old.

Heh, that's funny because I look for lowrise jeans and slacks. I'm short-bodied and big-busted, lowrise pants help me not look so chunky and cut off in the middle. Then again, maybe I'm confused on definitions, because now that I think of it, my flattering "lowrise" khakis stop just below my navel.

That is so sweet, about M.

No, it's a sign of putting comfort above fashion. And low rise jeans don't look good on many people.

Actually, they do look good on me, or I wouldn't have a closet full of them.

But since I'm not in the navel showing stage of life, it involves having to wear just the right shirt (i.e. long enough). Since buying the new ones, I've been able to wear all sorts of tops that have been in semi-retirement due to gappage.

Hey, at least your jeans are meant to be low-rise. Mine are low-rise because I am too convex for them to stay where they are supposed to be :(
