I spoke to my dean and it looks like I will be able to teach a course on Censorship next year, one way or another. Ideally, it would be an elective on censored books with 8-10 texts. It may be a sophomore seminar centered around a couple of texts, a film, an artwork, perhaps censored music. (Wonder how much a "Body Count" CD with Ice Cube's original "Copy Killer" goes for on eBay?) For budgetary reasons he says it's more likely to be the latter -- electives cost money. But if I'm around year after next, I can do it as an elective then. (Maybe I can do an elective at night even if I've given up and gotten a day job.) So yay for that.

Have I mentioned that M. met Eric Idle at work the other week? He was so thrilled -- it was very cute.

Had a very nice lunch with queenofthorns today; afterwards she accompanied me to a quirky little vintage doll shop where I reclaimed my mom's childhood Alice in Wonderland doll, who Scorpy sent down a bookshelf nearly as deep as a rabbit hole awhile back, and who needed to go to doll repair. She apparently is a very valuable little bisque commodity called a Nancy-Anne Storybook Doll, though as she's worth about $90, not valuable enough for me to sell off the only one of my mom's dolls we kept.

Color me amused (though I have now told everyone who would actually care on my flist individually) that my copy of Devdas, aka random sample Bollywood film I picked up, is, uh, sous-titred en francais. Fortunately this is not much of an obstacle for me, though my friend upstate I was gonna watch with took Spanish in high school so after I summarized what was going on for 15 minutes we moved on . . .

Well, since I'm actually at a library, I should probably sign off and do some work before going home to check in on depressed M. before book club.
