BSG finale: wow. Just wow. Never thought I was gonna love this show, but every week proved me more and more wrong, and the season finale? Wow. Galatica!Sharon: like I said before, two words. Manchurian. Candidate. Which makes a lot of the pre-angst very Laurence Harvey, really. When Lee defied Tigh, my respect for him vaulted through the roof. I can't quite decide if Roslin betrayed him or whether she, too, made the wisest possible move. Watched with [livejournal.com profile] linaerys, though alas [livejournal.com profile] queenofthorns had to back out. *pout* Got home and discovered M. (who'd been sick and thought he would tape, but managed to watch) and I had completely opposing opinions on the Roslin/Adama conflict -- he for Adama ("she's completely unqualified and it's not acceptable for her to interfere with the military"), me for Roslin ("was that sufficient grounds for a military coup? I think not"). Wish I'd taped this series; DVDs should be out soon.

Hee! I remember you were over here I think right after episodes one or two and you were all "meh" about it ... So you're going to tape all th ereruns, huh?

And I'm totally on your side. In fact, I'm a little mystified that people think Adama had any justification (especially since he didn't know all the facts) because most of what he was doing seemed to be about Starbuck anyway... (Man, that family is SO HUNG up on that girl.)

Like Laurence Harvey, Grace Park seems to be a fairly wooden actress until that crucial moment :) I love the Manchurian Candidate analogy!

Hey, I was taping it for M. originally. As it turns out, we both like it, but I like it more. (I think he'd prefer more space battles and adventure stuff, whereas I'm really pleased that so much of us is character based.)

I'm with both of you. What was the decision so bad it necessitated a military coup? ASKING a pilot to go on a different mission than the one she'd been assigned (which was accomplished without the waste of the specific, one-time-only destruction of their Cylon raider). Are they guaranteed that the Arrow will lead them to the Promised Land? Hell no. Was it worth taking the risk? Yeah.

And Adama TOTALLY overreacted, stripping Kara of any of her own agency or decision-making, and blaming Roslin for ... telling Kara that he lied, pretty much.

Bad, bad abuse of power.

I'm actually amazed from the posts I've read on 13th colony how divided opinions are. (I expect my husband to disagree with me on all such matters. ;-) One bad decision (if it even *was* a bad decision) is not reason enough to throw out a president.

Of course, dozens, even hundreds . . . ah, but I won't get political here.

Exactly! If Adama had been privy to all the facts (Roslin's dying and she's hopped up on weed...) maybe he could have made a better case for her incapacity to rule, but basically this was all about Kara!

I'm kind of aghast that not everyone sees Lee as the hero in this one ;)
