Apr. 6th, 2005 12:49 pmDon't I feel like quite the tech girl? I just learned how to use an LCD projector with my new laptop (aka The Toy) for class presentations (images, not powerpoint), and now I am sitting in a coffeeshop wifi-ing away. And wondering, now that I have all these high tech formats in which to say it, if I have anything worth saying.
Showed the first half of the BBC Moll Flanders in class and it was a big hit, so much so that though I had thought not to show the second part next week, now I will. I'd allotted too much time on the syllabus to Rousseau, anyhow. Mind you, this is a great class that has a good deal to say for itself most of the time, but a lot of time 9am movie showings are an excuse for naptime. This class was laughing and gasping and talking to the screen.
Me in the video shop last night, since I had to go pick up Moll anyway. "Hi, I need to rent a lighthearted romp." "That sounds pretty specific." "I've been informed that my choice of movies tends to make M. suicidal. Apparently not everyone thinks Napoleon Dynamite is funny." After the owner and I amused ourselves figuring out how I might present Vera Drake or Closer as a lighthearted romp, we settled on The Incredibles. Which was quite charming.

Date: 2005-04-07 04:31 pm (UTC)someone like her could end up with that goofy-looking Dr Green on ER,
actually. Not that it's all about the appearances, but they were a
pretty mismatched couple. Yeah, I used to watch a lot of ER. So what?

Date: 2005-04-15 06:59 pm (UTC)But we did catch The Incredibles on the plane, and we both laughed so much. It was wonderful. And L and B have the DVD, so we saw 'Jack-Jack Attack'. Oh, we also saw Sideways on the plane, and I liked it.
I slept on the way home, and the feature film (didn't have individual monitors, alas) was the second Bridget Jones film, which I have no desire to see anyway.
I want to see Vera Drake.
