ohhh-kay. unpointiness follows:

I deposited my paycheck yesterday and discovered that my account had been frozen, because my husband is a foreign national and he needs to file a w-8 form.

Uh huh. So he's suddenly *become* foreign, as if he hadn't been all along. What with the accent and everything when he came in to be added to my accounts *nearly three years ago*.

Not to mention that we have joint-but-separate checking accounts (we each have our own but officially they are joint, in case of whatever) and a savings account at this bank and only *one* of the accounts is frozen. Yup, the one I use for household expenses.

So I take the form home; he's doing a day shift which means he gets home "early" at 9pm. We pull out the form. It does not apply to permanent residents.

Today we marched into the bank, the customer service rep faxes his green card to the main office and our account is unfrozen.

And the point of all this was?

And the point of all this was?

...that someone in the bank is a moron.

But I promise I knew that already without the extra paperwork, or the ritual dragging in and propping up of the spousal unit (who is *so* not a morning person) at the nice lady's desk.

To prove to you that the bank is stupid? *sigh* Annoying.

But I was perfectly willing to believe that without them going to all this bother. Really.

Oh, I know. Look, Lloyd's has Ian's address. They send statements to him at this address. The mortgage is via Lloyd's and comes here to both of us. (Due to general craziness when I first moved here, I have an account at a different bank.) But other mail -- no, even though he called and went into a branch in person and changed the address several times, no, they kept sending it to the old address. Aargh.

Heh. It took me *FOUR* months and 3 forms (same form over & over again, once mailed to my home, twice picked up at the bank) to get Bob's name onto my account, and *ELEVEN* months to get Citizen's Bank to stop charging me a monthly checking account fee and refund the fees they'd taken, which as an employee of ADI with auto-check deposit I was not supposed to be charged.

There is, apparently, a main computer DEEP IN THE HEART of Citz'Bank (out of state, possibly out of country) that had decided that I was to pay a monthly fee. The nice ladies and germs of my local Citz'Bank customer service would put in an electric form saying that I did not have to pay a fee, which would go deep into the heart of Citz'Bank to make the change... but the person who feeds the Computer at the Heart of Citz'Bank would see that someone else had put in for this change already, assume that the change had been made, and toss out the change request... SO THE CHANGE DIDN'T GET DONE. FOR ELEVEN MONTHS. UNTIL I FINALLY HAD A HISSY AND GOT VERY VERY NASTY. I was very sweet and saintly until that moment.
