is the kind that ends up not happening.

Up to Columbia Presybterian yesterday afternoon for a bone graft in the socket where the tooth was drawn, which had been deemed necessary before I could have my dental implant. I have this fabulous oral surgeon who is really sweet and *explains* things clearly, so I am a fan of hers already, even from the consultation phase. So, after showing and explaining "bone in a bottle" to me (luckily they'd decided not to take bone from another part of *me*), she opens me up.

Only to discover that the X-ray was misleading and that while the bone regrowth where the tooth was extracted has been slow, it's been a lot more significant than anyone thought. So she stitched me back up, and instead of October (because the graft would need to take), the implant is scheduled for the end of this month.

And she *apologized* profusely for all this.

So let's see -- you were careful and cautious and tried to do the right thing, and the result was better than you'd hoped, and nobody had to stick any foreign objects in me, and you're *sorry*?

Personally, I am happy as a clam, albeit a clam with a couple of stitches in her upper jaw, who is eating cautiously and was pretty wiped out last night.

Yay for no surgery. Awww, for having to get stitches anyway.
