Jun. 29th, 2005 03:08 pmTwo highly disparate thoughts.
First of all, considering the inevitable right-wing reaction against Canada's legalizing gay marriage, is anyone planning a sort of anti-boycott? Where all we Americans, Brits, and etc. can let Canada know we think the right decision was made, by buying Canadian and letting them know why? Probably something like this is all over the 'net already and I just haven't seen it on my f-list yet. Please let me know where I can find it?
Second, having just exchanged email with
teenygozer about the probability that the American McGee's Alice computer game is going into production as a feature film starring Sarah Michelle Gellar, wondering if anyone has any thoughts? I am not a videogame person, and haven't made it past the first level, but last semester I got one of my students to demo the game for a class, and it's beautiful, reasonably narrative, and very interesting conceptually. So I'm anxious to see the movie, even if SMG wouldn't have been my first choice. (For those unfamiliar, Alice's family is killed in a fire and she ends up in a mental ward; the game takes place when she *is* older -- well, teenage, anyway -- and what happens in Wonderland this time is her process of coming to terms with what's happened.)
