So . . . my computer got infected with malware and I had to have the Geek Squad at Best Buy do a data retrieval. All my files are now on my external hard drive. I have a lovely Lenovo Yoga which the school gave me, and while I was keeping personal and professional separate, I can't justify buying a new one (or paying to rehabilitate my aging Sony) at the moment. Also, some coworkers have told me they don't have separate private laptops so I guess it's okay.
As far as documents and pictures go, I'll shift them over on an as-needed basis. But I'm not quite sure how I transfer iTunes from my external hard drive onto my laptop. The Lenovo already has iTunes set up, so it seems like there's no reason I couldn't move my music onto it, but I've always found that to be a puzzling process.
Anyone done that successfully? I've moved the music from one computer to another, but I've never managed to get it from the external hard drive onto the computer. I'll post this to Facebook as well, when it's not quite so early in the a.m., but in the meanwhile, I thought I'd ask my LJ/DW friends (since I think most of us only check in once or twice a day nowadays and what I post at 6:30am is less likely to get buried).
We will rescue the Sony at some point, but I think M will keep it, since it was a bit unbalanced, what with me having two laptops, and him having only an old Acer netbook.
