May. 5th, 2015 06:28 amSmall happinesses:
The semester is almost over. My summer class is not filling, so money's going to be tight (we still live paycheck-to-paycheck, as we're recovering from years of my adjuncting, so we will be living on his paychecks only 'til the freelance starts trickling in and then my contract re-ups in mid-July). But I am going to be working at home! After this week, until August, I will only go in when I have meetings! The Center closes this Friday. So I will index, and write scholarly things, and continue catching up on comp/rhet scholarship. No summer class for the first time in four years means I will have a real summer. And the terrace is lovely now and I rejoined the community garden (key! small private park!) and try to reconnect with the too many people I have barely seen since this year began.
Claudia Black is on The Originals, and while a few episodes has proven to me I still don't care about any of these characters . . . Claudia Black! Being evil. And powerful.
I applied to review a book for IAFA's journal, on Mary Shelley and Margaret Atwood, and got chosen. I'm also giving a paper on Shelley at the Science Fiction Research Association conference at the end of June. (Which is at SUNY-Stony Brook, and the LIRR runs right to the edge of campus, hurrah!) So Mary Shelley is becoming one of my things.
New Penny Dreadful. Poldark and Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell forthcoming. Costume drama heaven. Plus new Halt and Catch Fire.

Date: 2015-05-06 03:25 am (UTC)When and where does Jonathan Strange... show up? I'm not sure I ever knew, and I'm worried I'll miss it.

I didn't know you were watching Halt and Catch Fire. I've been trying to get K and L to stick with it, because the engineering aspect of it, the whole IBM thing, ALL of it, is very...familiar and in a weird way, comforting. (Stockholm syndrome, maybe?) ;)
Plus my boyfriend, Lee, gave me a real happy last season. ;)
Glad that Jonathan Strange will be on regular cable, not premium. :)

Date: 2015-05-07 01:00 am (UTC)Just came back from a trip to Oneonta today. Didn't get to see everyone, just Sue, because, you know, they're all working, but it was nice to show Agnes the town and parts of Otego. (But not the house - I couldn't do it...)
And brought some things I needed back from storage. Not much though bc where would I put it? :(
