A SF/F/H author whose books I will buy sight unseen is: China Mieville
My favorite book by that author is: Perdido Street Station. (I know a lot of my friends prefer The Scar, but I really like the city of Bas Lag.)
The most recent new-to-me SF/F/H author I discovered was: Charles Stross
The book that helped me discover that author is: um, a lit crit book called Singularities by Joshua Raulerson
One of my favorite SF/F/H authors is: Elizabeth Hand
They are one of my favorites because: I just always enjoy what she writes? (My book group was pretty down on her when we read something by her over the winter, but they are wrong! I say, wrong! ;-) )
The most coveted SF/F/H book I own is: a hardback of Good Omens signed by both Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman

Date: 2015-06-18 10:20 am (UTC)I found this oddly hard to answer -- I don't necessarily have a lot of favorite genre writers, more favorite texts, I think. I would totally call Susanna Clarke a favorite *if* she ever comes out with another book . . .
Looking forward to seeing who else you might be considering a favorite. (GRRM is a given, of course. I have promised myself I'm not rereading the series until it's finished, though.)
