Exiles #3

I am not a good comics reader. I try to pick up titles and I end up giving up partway through because I can't remember to buy them or whatever. I do have some graphic novels and I appreciate them but I don't LOVE love them, except for Sandman.

That said, I HAD TO HAVE Exiles #3 because of the Peggy-Cap cover -- in one multiverse, Steve Rogers is assassinated, along with Dr. Erskine, before he can become Captain America, so Howard Stark and Peggy Carter figure it out and she, ironically, becomes Captain America, British accent and all. (Because they use Hayley Atwell's Peggy as the basis, not the original blonde American Peggy from the comics.)

This comic is crazy. First, it's written by Saladin Ahmed, who has real fiction cred. Second, the team includes a grown-up postapocalyptic Kamala Khan Ms. Marvel, a Tessa Thompson-inspired Valkyrie, a manga-style cute Wolverine, and a teenage Iron Lad (not Tony Stark).

I kind of love it, even if Peggy Cap is just a guest character. (This episode ended on a cliffhanger, so I hope that means she's back next time. Or she was possibly killed in that multiverse. I guess comics do that. I usually only buy them in graphic novel format, so I'm not sure.)

Also, I stopped by St. Mark's comics in a vintage 40s dress which I was wearing to campus that day. Just my little homage to Peggy . . . not that anybody noticed.
