This may be an unpopular opinion, but if that was really the end, I am okay with that. It made narrative sense and it's not like any of these people were going to have a happy ending. Of course I wanted another ten seasons of Vanessa Ives, but they've been teasing this since s. 1.

I do have some frustrations, like they finally got some more women on the team and I want so much more of them being amazing. I could totally watch Catriona and Seward's Further Adventures.

But what a great twist that Jekyll becomes Lord Hyde -- maybe we never get him transforming. And Lily comes off very well in the end, Victor realizes that he *is* the monstrous one and amends his behavior, and Dorian's ultimate hollowness is made clear.

And Kaetanay as werewolf and author of Ethan's curse -- makes so much sense.

And my dear Creature loses his family again but has entirely regained his humanity, doing the right thing by his son and mourning alone at Vanessa's grave.

Fans are already screaming their outrage over on Twitter, but honestly? I'm sad, actually crying as I write this, but it was a satisfying end to a brilliant show. If it continues, I will watch it but miss Vanessa like hell. But if it's over, it's rather perfect.<\lj-cut>

But wow do I wish I went to cons because I really want to cosplay Catriona Hartdegan!

I've just posted my reactions. We seems to be very much in agrement. It was a very good ending, even if there are a few things hanging, Vanessa and the Creature's arc were very good, if deeply sad.

I can only see this show continue with Eva Green and I can see a few ways for her to return. And I will watch avidly if that happens. Still, it can really end here and the The End kind of indicate that.

(I do think that Catriona and Dr. Seward should team up with Ferdinand Lyle and fight monsters. I would totally watch that!)

I'm glad you agree. I was reading so much outrage on Twitter last night. But good on them for knowing when the story is done. I'm far more upset about Agent Carter because there were so many stories left to tell.

But wow, there go both of my current fandoms.

And msy Eva Green get many more roles which are worthy of her stunning talent.

I agree, Agent Carter was cut way too soon. However much I would want more Penny Dreadful, it still felt like it came to a proper ending.

As much as it was painful, I am glad John Clare decided to let his son actually die rather than resurrecting him (although I can completely understand the mother's desire to have her child back, back and well).

I know overall we disagreed on the ending -- I do think it was abrupt and could have been much better developed, but ultimately I found it appropriately Victorian.

I saw the new Tarzan movie a few days ago, and the actor who plays Ferdinand Lyle was in it, and he was a minor baddie, but my friend and I both found we couldn't root against him because . . . Ferdinand Lyle.

Ha! I've done that before with actors I really like. It's hard to erase the previous characters.

I think we do agree about some things; I love your take on Jekyll/Hyde and I liked the parts with John Clare even if they made me sad.
