Fandom Snowflake Challenge #1
Jan. 2nd, 2020 04:42 pm
I'm really glad we're doing every other day this year, because I was feeling exhausted yesterday. But . . .
challenge #1, Introduce Myself.
Hi, I'm Chelseagirl, and I'm Old. (The girl part comes from Andy Warhol's movie The Chelsea Girls -- I lived in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan for many years; in the East Village now.) I was in fandom when fanfic appeared in zines because there was no Internet.
I'm an English professor, with a PhD in Victorian literature, but I teach writing and science fiction to STEM students, and I run the university writing center. So I write historical fiction for fun, because I miss my studies. My first novel came out from a small press last summer (historical romance called Courting Anna) and I am working on my second (historical mystery).
I live in NYC with my partner and five cats. M is a photographer and works in a park in Brooklyn rescuing animals and doing other park-type things. M is a transwoman; I'm a cishet woman; we make it work. (When we met, M was still trying to convince herself she was a boy; we are each other's person, if that makes sense?)
Fannishly, I love Agent Carter (kinda mad about the conclusion of Endgame because Agent Carter was all about Peggy getting on with her life) and Captain Marvel. And Baby Yoda, because I'm human. Was blown away by the Watchmen tv series. I mostly write fanfic for an old Western series called Alias Smith and Jones for Reasons. Jessica Jones s. 1 is the best thing ever; s. 2 and 3 broke my heart, so I just kind of remind myself that she's married to Luke in the comics.

Or is it . . . too many things! ;-)
