M and I watched World War Z last night; it was okay. The most interesting thing really was to see the global perspective when we've been watching The Walking Dead and they're so cut off from any kind of information.

I did get to point out Peter Capaldi to M, whose response was along the lines of "he *looks* like a Doctor." He didn't even watch the last season of Who with me, since Matt Smith and the writing had entirely lost him. (I was fonder of Smith but by the end his performance seemed to have devolved into a collection of twitches and shouts, as I've stated before.) So maybe he'll give it another try and we'll see if a more experienced actor can cope better with Moffat.

And we cleaned our DVR of lots of things we gave a try to this fall. Agents of SHIELD and Wonderland stay for now, but mostly I just want Sleepy Hollow to come back. And I'm enjoying Haven more than I have in years, mostly because Duke has a bigger role and I like Jennifer and the fact that every week has essentially the same plot is more ok when the overall arc is moving forward.

M didn't know who Peter Capaldi is? Did BBCA not air The Thick of It? I wonder if M would enjoy Local Hero. :)

I don't recall it, but then it's not like we watch everything they show, anyway.* He's probably seen him in things but not made the connection.

*Unfortunately, since they're doing so well with Doctor Who, and SyFy isn't showing much actual, you know, scifi, they're spending a lot of programming time on things like Star Trek: TNG reruns. Which at least has a British lead, but still . . .

He would remember the cursing. Peter Capaldi's character, Malcolm Tucker, cursed a blue streak.

I saw Local Hero again recently. Capaldi is so young in it. Of course, I was young then also.

I meant, I don't recall that they aired it. I do know we didn't watch it. I hear good things . . .

Don't think BBCA can air The Thick of It because of cursing. But I could be wrong.

BBCA has gotten soft. They show Kitchen Nightmares, Top Gear and ST: TNG and that's basically IT. Not the station I knew and loved.

Haven is incredible this season!

It's so frustrating. I'm looking forward to Ripper Street returning, and Orphan Black, but heck, that one's Canadian, right? I am SO TIRED of Gordon Effing Ramsay; even M has finally given up on him and he never gets tired of Grumpy Brits Telling People Off.

They seem to have nothing to air and even The Wrong Mans (which is awesome) is going to Hulu.

It's very disappointing. I don't know why they're not throwing caution to the wind and airing some of the grimmer stuff like The Village (John Simm) and Southcliffe (Rory Kinnear) regardless of the fact that US audiences won't get it/will hate it. Hulu also got "Run" so I sense there's a lot of competition for British TV goods.

Absolutely. And with relish. It's really odd they don't capitalize on this somehow rather than dickering about with prevention.
